Product Description Although it is impossible to account and plan for every potential threat, security breach, or scenario that may occur, it is possible to reduce the chance of malevolence claiming the life of your protectee. In the potentially dangerous but highly rewarding profession of close personal protection, critical thinking and a dispassionate evaluation of actions, situations, and events is often the difference between life and death.
Thought-provoking Stimulating the reevaluation of traditional strategies and development of independent, adaptable approaches to the unpredictable threat of attack, Introduction to Executive Protection, Second Edition goes a step beyond the basic foundational concepts of the original. Exploring the psychology, philosophy, and professionalism of the modern close personal protection agent, the author uses the real life experiences of veterans in the field to highlight key considerations that will take security and protection into the future.
Informative After defining the parameters and the changing role of the personal protection agent, the author reviews the historical and contextual importance of the need for security. He gives detailed insight into identifying the potentially dangerous subject; securing the protectee's home, office, and vehicle; and recognizing and reacting to an ambush. Specific chapters address new levels of threat including terrorism, kidnapping, and bomb threats.
Practical Providing realistic information on medical emergencies both natural and malicious, the book dedicates several chapters to outlining the character and conduct of the professional protection agent. It gives practical, common sense advice on day-to-day protocols and instructs in the necessary interpersonal skills that are crucial to the job. Each chapter concludes with a summary and review questions. The appendices provide an extensive glossary of terms, as well as checklists for effective preparation, self-assessment, and "after action" analysis.

"The serious practitioner's reference tool and benchmark". April 9, 1999 Gene Bentz (gbentz@pacbell.net) (San Diego, California) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Dale June's expertise and accurate insight into the field of executive and vip protection offers both the novice and experienced professional a "true standard of excellence" to be measured against. Mr.June's extensive career in law enforcement and the private security industry has afforded others a rare glimpse of the dedication, commitment, and professionalism one needs to undertake in the protective services arena. I have had the privilege and good fortune to work with Dale June on numerous assignments in the private sector from 1995 to the present. Most important, was his willingness to answer questions in a very thorough manner and discuss the application of protective principles in the field to enhance our overall effectiveness.I truly believe this speaks to the pertinent aspects of the book since Mr.June has been able to draw on personal anecdotes to further highlight protective protocol and application. I clearly believe anyone who is in the business of protecting principals or clients, domestically or internationally, can derive substantial benefit from this text{this applies to clients as well}. In net,"An Introduction To Executive Protection" by Dale June is an extremely well-written,thought- ful book which should be considered a primary source of information for all interested parties.
Excellent book on executive protection July 16, 2007 Vince Palamara (South Park/Bethel Park, PA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
As the leading civilian authority on the U.S. Secret Service, I highly recommend this book from distinguished former agent Dale June. It is well written and very informative. Simply put, you cannot go wrong in purchasing this volume. I was a little disappointed with the 11/22/63 "whitewash", but that was to be expected, quite frankly (what is Mr. June going to say : "My colleagues screwed up in Dallas?"). Get this!
The consumate text for Executive Protection December 14, 2000 S. Christian (California, USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Dale June really hits the nail on the head with this comprehensive text on EP(Executive Protection). As one of the few women in the profession, I have seen that little is often addressed in 'so called EP books' as to the unique situations that we encounter. June includes material that is essential to the neophyte and experienced professional alike. His text is fast becoming a required reading, and is endorsed by the Director of Training and Professional Certification of the IAPPS (International Association for Professional Protection Specialists) as a core text for those entering the profession. Whether you are looking at the profession from the perspective of just starting, or revisiting the basics to stay on top of your game. This book is a MUST read.
Magnificent! Deserves 10 out of 10 ! January 27, 2001 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
As a professional who has been in the industry for a long time I have read numerous publications on the subject of Executive Protection but have not come accross material such as this. I must say that Mr. June goes a step further with this book than most authors so far. He tells it as it is. The book not only covers the basics but also offers very useful information on many points to both begginers and seasonal professionals like myself. Although the book is aimed at the protection specialists in the USA some of the principles still apply world wide. I have thouroghly enjoyed it and I would definately recommend the book to anyone either interested or involved in the industry!
